Nava Zuckerman, the founder and artistic director of the Tmuna Theater, is the recipient of this year's Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ministry of Science, Culture and Sport. The Performance Prize has gone to the Vertigo dance company and the Individual Performance Prize to freelance dancer Ran Ben-Dror. The Young Artists Prizes were awarded to dancer/choreographers Odelia Kuperberg, Arkady Zaides and Idan Cohen.
Zuckerman, who is a dancer, performance artist, educator and innovator, founded the multidisciplinary Tmuna Theater in 1981 as a home for new fringe creativity of all kinds. Tmuna offers theater, dance, the plastic arts, workshops and festivals to an ever-growing audience. Among the festivals Zuckerman has initiated are IntimaDance, offering a stage to fledgling choreographers, and the No-Genre Project, which encourages exploration of new theatrical and movement languages. • Helen Kaye
