THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN
Director Steven Spielberg kicks off the big-screen Tintin trilogy with this computer-animated motion-capture adaptation of Georges Remi’s beloved Tintin comic strip. The first installment in the series finds adventureseeking Belgian reporter Tintin (voiced by Jamie Bell) and surly Captain Haddock racing to recover a powerful artifact that was lost at sea four centuries ago. At selected cinemas throughout the country.

THE WHOLE PACKAGE
A virtual one-man band, Chen Zimbalista uses his hands, feet and voice as he works the marimba, vibraphone, drums, cymbals and numerous other percussion instruments.His repertoire is taken from classical, blues, jazz and occasionally rock. 3. FESTIVAL
EBONY AND IVORY
Over its 12-year existence, the Piano Festival has hosted some of the biggest names in the local pop and rock business. This year’s lineup includes titans such as Shlomo Gronich, Dana Berger, Corinne Alal and Ran Danker. Highlights include Miki Gabrielov, who will perform a special tribute show to mark the 40th anniversary of the release of Arik Einstein’s album Badeshe Etzel Avigdor; and Idan Alterman, who will front the Magical Mystery Tour show of Beatles songs. BAG IT’S A BIRD’S LIFE
The first International Hula Valley Bird Festival will offer travelers and photographers an opportunity to witness the seasonal migration of thousands of local and rare bird species. The festival will also offer a comprehensive birding workshop, a photography seminar and an intimate performance by seven-time Grammy winner musician Paul Winter. Runs Sunday through November 27, www.hulabirdfestival.org

IT’S ALL GREEK TO ME
Combining Balkan, Jewish and Mediterranean beats – with special emphasis on Greek music, mustaches and lounge jackets – Boom Pam will be bashing out all its hits at Jerusalem’s Beit Avi Chai. The group takes its name from a song it covered entitled “Boom Pam,” a Greek hit here performed by Greek immigrant Aris San. THICKER THAN WATER
Willy Russell’s internationally acclaimed play Blood Brothers opens for 50 performances at Beit Lessin starting today. Too poor to raise both of her sons, Mrs. Johnstone (Maya Dagan) allows her employer to adopt one of her twins. In childhood, ignorant of their relationship, the boys meet and become “blood brothers.” As they grow up, Eddie Lyons (Ido Rosenberg), wealthy and selfassured, is destined for success, while Mickey Johnstone’s (Nadav Netz) life spirals downward into crime and imprisonment. PEOPLE, LIVES AND LANDSCAPES
Through thousands of high-quality photographs, the American Colony photographers documented the traditional daily life of inhabitants of the cities and villages, permanent residents and wanderers living in Jerusalem at the beginning of the 20th century. As photographers, they thought they were thus opening an important window into the way of life in biblical times, concretizing the background of the biblical stories. SHOCK PUNK ARTISTS
The Tiger Lillies will be making their Israel debut this month at the Barby Club in Tel Aviv. The eccentric British trio, led by flamboyant frontman Martyn Jacques, has been been perfecting its warped blend of macabre Brechtian show tunes about the dark side of London life for almost 20 years.The Lillies were nominated for a Grammy for their 2003 album The Gorey End, a collaboration with the Kronos Quartet. November 26 at 9 p.m., Barby Club, Tel Aviv, www.barby.co.il

THE BEST MEDICINE
Laugh tracks won’t be necessary as three Hollywood comedians perform in Israel in support of the Koby Mandell Foundation.
