Fashion design house HDL Dafna Levinson is sponsoring a photography exhibition to raise funds for One in Nine, a non-profit organization dedicated to breast cancer prevention and providing services to women with the disease. The exhibition will include 24 photographs, submitted by 12 of Israel's most prominent photographers, and will feature Israeli celebrities modeling Dafna Levinson's designs. Ron Kedmi, Yaniv Edri, Yaki Halperin and Karen Gilerman - amongst others - each donated two pieces to be sold at the gallery's exclusive opening. Model Ma'ayan Keret, actress and breast cancer survivor Gat Namir, and model Amit Geza, also a survivor, are some of the celebrities who gave their time to model for this cause. This is the Levinsons' first fundraising event in their crusade against breast cancer. According to Tzvika Levinson, HDL owner and married to Dafna, "we wanted to make a valuable contribution to the community. Our clothing is designed for women, and women are certainly at risk for breast cancer." He noted that while one in nine women will develop breast cancer, the statistic is closer to one in five in the north of Israel, due to pollution. "I see my company as a leading designer, and we not only want to sell clothing, but values." The Levinsons, who close their stores on Shabbat, are dedicated to equal opportunity hiring and have now incorporated breast cancer prevention and treatment as one of their business's top priorities. "The money we raise at this event is important. But, more importantly, we want to spread awareness and have all women go to get examined," Tzvika said. In 2008 HDL marketed its first winter lifestyle magazine to its over 100,000 registered customers, in exchange for a 5-10 shekel donation to One in Nine. A spring/summer lifestyle magazine will be launched in a couple of weeks as part of the Levinsons' continuing campaign against breast cancer. The One in Nine photography exhibit takes places at the Rugine House of Design (46 Montefiore St., Tel Aviv) from March 24 to 31 (closed on the 28). Open Sun. to Thurs. from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fri. from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. www.onein9.org.il
