Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim's West Side Story is going to play in Tel Aviv in September as part of the popular musical's 50th anniversary world tour. The visiting American company will be on the Israel Opera stage with hits like "I Feel Pretty," "America," "Maria" and "Tonight." It is directed by Joey McNeely and conducted by Donald Chan. The orchestra will be a combination of the touring musicians and the Ra'anana Symphonette. West Side Story, a modern take on Romeo and Juliet, debuted in 1957 in New York and has been performed thousands of times on Broadway and West End. The 1961 film version won 10 Oscars.
