CoPro, the Israeli Forum for International Documentary Co-Productions, is holding its 10th annual CoPro Forum in Tel Aviv this week. The forum just opened and it will run until Monday. Copro - Documentary Marketing Foundation is a non-profit organization which aims to facilitate cooperation between Israeli documentary filmmakers and producers and commissioning editors from the world over. The forum features master classes with documentary filmmakers and producers from all around the globe, sessions in which filmmakers can pitch their works to representatives of television networks and special programs on a number of topics. This year's forum includes such distinguished guests as Aaqil Ahmed, the editor of programming on religious affairs from Channel 4 in Britain, who will moderate a panel on Islam; Ryota Kotany, the manager of documentary programming for the Japanese network NHK; Alex Szalat, a producer of political documentaries from the French network Arte; and Barbara Pawlowska, the manager of documentary programming for the Polish network TVP. The work of the many organizers of CoPro over the past decade has brought Israeli documentaries to countless viewers around the world and has helped put Israeli cinema on the world map.
