By VIVA SARAH PRESS
The 11th annual Hebrew Song Festival is set to take place April 14-19 (Hol Hamoed Passover) at the Holon Theater. Top talents from the local music industry will feature in 22 shows during the event. Folk singer Esther Ofarim, well-known for her partnership with her husband Abi, will make a guest appearance at the festival. Ofarim will team up with Yoni Richter and Miri Mesika.
The festival bill includes a who's who in today's Hebrew song market. Nurit Galron, one of Israel's most successful and prolific singers since the 1970s, will perform a gala show at the happening. Galron, who recently released a new album, is the recipient of a special prize given by festival coordinators for her contribution to Hebrew music. She will team up with young singers Sheila Farber and Rona Kenan during her performance.
The festival will also honor songwriter Yoram Taharlev for his compositions with an evening dedicated to his works from the Sixties through today.
Other artists set to take part in Hebrew Song fest are Din Din Aviv, Idan Raichel, Mosh Ben Arie, Danny Litani, Matti Caspi, and the Suleiman family.
In addition to the concerts, free activities and market stalls will be set up in the theater's courtyard every evening from 7pm. For more information or tickets, call (03) 5023001/2.
