Scarlett Johansson, named the “Sexiest Woman Alive” by Esquire magazine in 2013, will have another achievement to add to her resume this year. The Jewish-American actress has been chosen to be the official spokesperson for Israel-based SodaStream and will star in its Super Bowl ad.
SodaStream’s product makes regular beverages fizzy and is a favorite of Johansson’s, one she has been using and giving as gifts for many years. According to the company’s website, one Soda Stream bottle is enough to produce the amount of soda beverages the average Israeli family consumes in a year, or 3,833 bottles and cans.
“The company’s commitment to a healthy body and healthier world is perfect for me,” Johansson was quoted as saying.
Johansson is known for her environmental awareness and “green” agenda and therefore was chosen to represent the brand, said SodaStream, which seeks a world without bottles.
To kick off the ad campaign, Johansson will be starring in a commercial specifically produced for the Super Bowl, which will air in early February. Known for its expensive advertisements, the Super Bowl attracts massive audiences and is a platform for some of the most successful companies in the world to advertise their products. SodaStream was the first Israeli-founded company to advertise during the Super Bowl, when it aired an ad during the 2012 game.
“Scarlett is a great admirer of our products and has used them for years,” Soda Stream CEO Daniel Birnbaum said.
“She is a role model for a healthy body and environmental responsibility, making her the perfect choice.
She embodies the brand values of Soda Stream, and we are honored that she has joined our ranks.”
