For New Year’s Eve parties– it’s all about gold and silver and lots of bling. Be daring, says Ravit Assaf, former beauty queen and now owner of a makeup company. She believes in glamor and recommends adding a few touches of gold to the eyelids and paint the lips hot red to get the right effect (15 shimmering colors are available for NIS 99 at Ravit Assaf shops).
Yossi Bitton, makeup artist and owner of B Cosmic, adds crystals to his lip gloss and false lashes to add dimension to the glittery look and pairs them with metallic eye shadow. He says his clients asked him to produce a special line for special parties: “These items not only give a glamorous look but also photograph very well,” he says. (Lip gloss NIS 100; powdered shadow NIS 110; lashes NIS 60).
But it’s not only the face. Your nails need some glitter too. Katia of Orly says that party clothes nowadays very often come in shimmering gold or silver. “Your nails need to match the glamor of your dress and if you choose to wear the little black dress, then your nails can add that touch of festivity.” (Orly holiday collection NIS 25; Essie New Year’s Eve collection NIS 65).
For the finishing touch that makes the look, try adding earrings or a necklace by Michal Negrin, the costume jewelry designer who conquered the hearts of many of Hollywood’s glitterati. Her designs are romantic and lend that necessary twinkle.
Her New Year’s gold-plated collection includes necklaces, earrings and bracelets, all with crystals, chiffon ribbons, lace and beads.
