1868 is a kosher restaurant offering a varied meat menu from light meals to chef’s tasting menus using top-quality fresh produce delivered daily to the kitchen. The restaurant has rooms of various sizes, so that 10-diner events can enjoy the privacy of a private room, and larger groups (up to 75) can use the entire restaurant for family or business dinners, cocktail parties and launches. 1868 also offers gourmet catering and is at your service by phone or e-mail in order to suit the menu to your event.  The first stone house built outside Jerusalem’s Old City walls over 140 years ago now houses a restaurant named for the year of its construction, 1868.
This unique edifice on King David Street invokes memories of the days of the building of the new city of Jerusalem, when the small communities who left the Old City brought their traditions and flavors with them and created a new Jerusalem cuisine.  Chef Jacob Turjeman combines traditional Jerusalem raw materials, the culinary tradition of the city’s residents and the precise cooking techniques of French cuisine, offering an international menu that combines classic dishes and contemporary unique Jerusalem cuisine.  The historic building, the food and meticulous service determine the restaurant’s special character.
