The popularity of soy schnitzels with vegetables has apparently inspired two companies to take a similar approach with traditional chicken schnitzels. Mama Of is now marketing breaded schnitzels made from chicken breast with corn, spinach, peas, broccoli, or mixed vegetables; a 750-gr. package, recognizable by the check mark 'V', is NIS 29.90. Of Tov has a light version of chicken schnitzels with vegetables, containing between 145 and 157 calories per schnitzel. The two available varieties are schnitzel with peas and carrots and schnitzel with corn; a 700-gr. package is NIS 27.90. Another tasty addition to the healthy Kellogg's Special K breakfast cereal is rice and whole-wheat flakes with dried apricot and peach. Special K cereals, especially suitable for women, contain Vitamin B, folic acid, Vitamin C, and Iron; one package is NIS 25. Sugat has two new types of rice: red rice (a whole grain red-colored type of rice), and whole-grain basmati rice. These two healthy and tasty rice types cost NIS 12 to NIS 14 for one kilo. Leonidas Belgian Chocolate has some new pralines without added sugar, containing about 20 percent fewer calories than regular pralines. The chocolate lovers in my house didn't taste any difference between the sugarless pralines and those with sugar. Available pralines without chocolate are milk or bitter chocolate coins called finesse, milk or bitter chocolate "buches" filled with marzipan or nougat, or a "manon caf ," with coffee and hazelnut. You can find Leonidas stores in Ramat Hasharon, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem; 100 gr. of the sugarless pralines is NIS 28. Nestl has new ice creams in individual-sized tubs, containing up to 99 calories. These delicious yogurt ice creams with fruit or coffee sherbets don't taste like diet products, and you take in few calories because you eat only one small tub. The available flavors are yogurt ice cream with strawberry, melon, passion fruit, or coffee sherbet; one tub is NIS 4.65, and a six-pack is NIS 27.90. Especially for the summer months, Strauss has refreshing Tsaziki dip, yogurt with cucumber and dill, packed in little containers; one individual-sized tub is NIS 4.76. Those who are nostalgic for the Sinai beaches can get the Island Drink, a thick fruit nectar that is apparently popular there, in selected supermarkets. The Island drink is now available also in one-liter bottles, in the flavors guava and mango; the price for a one-liter bottle is NIS 10.
