An Israeli dancer-choreographer duo, Michal Harsonsky and Shira Ben-Zeev, took third place in a prestigious modern dance competition "No Ballet," which took place last weekend in Germany.
The duo was chosen to represent Israel after being selected during a fierce preliminary competition between 282 candidates from 42 different countries. In Germany, they presented the piece "Sisters," which was inspired by a 16th-century French painting that explores the dynamic interaction between the world of dance and the world of theater.
A record number of six Israeli participants were accepted into the competition this year, which took place at the Pfalzbau Theater in Düsseldorf.
The prize of "crowd favorite" went to Israeli choreographer Nadine Bomar.
In the last three years, the No Ballet choreographic competition has risen in prominence and is now thought of as one of the most important in the dance world.
