British Invasion set for May and June

British Invasion-era bands including The Animals and Herman's Hermits will be appearing together in at the Afula Amphitheater.

The lineup sounds great, but if you're a fan of '60s rock, don't get too excited. The good news is that British Invasion-era bands including The Animals, Herman's Hermits, and late '60s popsters The Marmalade, will be appearing together on June 9th at the Afula Amphitheater. The not-so-good news is that the primary original band members like Eric Burdon of The Animals and Peter Noone, aka Herman, are not members of their respective bands. Still with a stray original bass player or drummer, and veteran musicians filling in the other roles, songs like "House of the Rising Sun" and "Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter" should still sound fine in the Shavuot sun. More ambitious, however, is three days of Beatlemania beginning May 15 for Holon's spring music festival. Organized by music maven Yoav Kutner, the festival will feature live performances, an exhibition, lectures and Beatles' videos and movies, as well as shows of Beatles tunes performed by Alon Olearchik, Ben Arzi, Danny Sanderson, Yermi Kaplan, Meir Banai and Hemi Rudner.
