Violinist and oud player Elias is lauded for his contributions to the Eastern music world.

The Culture and Sport Ministry has named violinist and oud player Taiseer Elias and the Meitar Ensemble for its 2008 music prizes. The ceremony will be held in September.
Elias, given the Frank Pelleg Prize, was lauded for his contributions to the Eastern music world. The prize is worth NIS 50,000. The Meitar Ensemble was awarded the Eden Fartoush Prize for its rendition of Fibers of Silence, by Israel Eliraz (lyrics) and Yinam Leef (music). The honor comes with
a NIS 10,000 purse.
