Israeli premiere for Gil Shohat

Written when Shohat was 23, the concerto, he says, "is expansive and optimistic."

Gil Shohat's 'Concerto for Viola and Large Orchestra' will receive its local premiere at the hands of violist Amichai and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra-IBA conducted by Eli Yoffe. The concerto had its world premiere in Berlin with violist Tabea Zimmerman and the Berlin Symphony Orchestra conducted by Steven Sloane. Written when Shohat was 23, the concerto, he says, "is expansive and optimistic in contrast to other viola concertos that are gloomy and anguished."
