Musical Winter at Abu Ghosh kicks off with a concert to pay tribute to Sabra composer David Zehavi.

Sabra composer David Zehavi is best known for setting to music fallen WW II heroine Hana Senesz's poem "Eli, Eli," as well as iconic Hebrew poet Lea Goldberg's "The Flute." Born in Jaffa in 1910, Zehavi was among the founders of Kibbutz Na'an at the age of 20, where he lived until his death, in 1977. As a kibbutz member Zehavi worked as an electrician, but he also started a choir and arranged many concerts for which he wrote the music.
An eight-part Saturday noon series, Musical Winter at Abu Ghosh, kicks off tomorrow with a concert entitled "Singing David Zehavi" and featuring singers Yonit Shaked-Golan, Dafna Zehavi, Hillel Zehavi and Gal Hillman, along with the Ramat Gan Chamber Choir conducted by Hanna Tzur.
