One of Israel's most successful jazz exports, Omer Avital, returns from his professional base in New York for performances November 7, 9 and 10 in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. A former teacher and composition student at Jerusalem's Rubin Academy of Music, Avital released his second album, The Ancient Art of Giving, earlier this year. Avital will be joined for his Israeli concerts by drummer Ali Jackson and pianist Aaron Goldberg, his partners on the recent album. He'll teach master classes before his November 7 and 9 shows, which will be held at Tel Aviv's Levontin 7 club and Jerusalem's Yellow Submarine. For his final show, which is scheduled to take place at Tel Aviv's Zappa Club on Friday, Avital will be joined by saxophonist Eli Degibri, another Israeli jazz musician currently based in New York.
