Not everyone has the courage, in mid-life, to change their course and pursue their first love of music. After all, everyone knows that to really do music, you have to start seriously at a very young age, take a zillion lessons, practice constantly and also get a few lucky breaks, right? Adina Even-Zohar is one of the rare people possessed with the determination to truly follow their dreams. After the challenges and successes of a "regular" life, she has, over the last few years, devoted herself to her first passion of singing, seeking out the top teachers in Israel and abroad to train her natural talent. For the last year she has been performing around the country, got a manager and is well on her way to success in her second career. "I remembered how I felt in 12th grade," she says. "That the world is open before me and everything is possible... [this is] the missing piece in the puzzle of my life." Born in Haifa, Even-Zohar grew up in the Big Apple. This is reflected in the three concerts she will perform with her ensemble this month, which are based on the music popular in New York City during the 1960s and 1970s, including classics performed by such icons as Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Carole King and Paul Simon. Her band consists of Giora Linnenberg, piano; Nizan Ein Habar, saxophone; Yorai Oron, bass; and Amir David, drums. Adina Even-Zohar performs on Friday, November 10 at the Givatayim Theater at 10 p.m; on Tuesday November 18 at the Camelot Herzliya at 10 p.m; and on Thursday November 30 at the Ashdod Museum at 10:30 p.m.
