To the dismay of some, here what we have to do to restore our Judeo-Christian spirituality

In my recent post, “The only way to win the war against Islamists in Paris and elsewhere is to strengthen our Judeo-Christian spirituality”, I have discussed the Islamic spiritual strength of Muslim majority and the Judeo-Christian spiritual weakness of the Western world that has led to their victories and our defeats in the Middle East, in Europe, and in America.
In this article, I am discussing what can be done to restore our Judeo-Christian spirituality and the ability to resist and win.
We are proud of our Democracy and Freedom. However, Democracy and Freedom are not spiritual values – they are the tools to support the collective spiritual values created by the people or given to them by their Creator. Democracy lets a group of people select leaders who are presumably the best for defending the people’s spiritual values while Freedom lets the individuals tailor the collective spiritual values to their individual life circumstances.
To make the point of “Democracy and Freedom are just the tools, not spiritual values” clear, let me remind the readers the following. In the Nazi Germany, the Germans elected, democratically and freely, Hitler to recreate their eternal spiritual dream of being the supreme human race, and these days the Turks elected, democratically and freely, Erdogan who is moving Turkey back to Islamic “Allah Akbar” spirituality.
The Christian pilgrims founded America as a country of Judeo-Christian spirituality, and the Independence and Civil Wars strengthened this foundation. Our country was not founded as a country of Muslim, Baptist, Confucian or Hindu spirituality. We, using the tools of democracy and freedom, had been electing our country’s social and legal leaders who protected and strengthened our Judeo-Christian spirituality. The Ten Commandments and the Bible were in all public and government places.
That is true, our country is a country of immigrants, and we have many Muslim, Baptist, Confucian, Hindu, and even heathen cults, immigrants. However, in the past those immigrants knew they have to respect and obey the Judeo-Christian laws and traditions in the “public squares” and to follow their own traditions in the confinement of their homes and religious institutions.
After the WWII, the political and economic globalization became a mighty force that brought many countries closer to each other politically and economically. And many in the USA, and in Europe as well, decided that one more globalization step, the spiritual unification, is needed. The people of the total globalization idea invented the concept of “universal human values” that, they believe, can spiritually unite the world. As a first step in the spiritual unification, they began dismantling the Judeo-Christian spirituality in the “public squares” piece by piece – ‘no’ to the Ten Commandments, ‘no’ to the Bible, ‘no’ to the prayers, and ‘no’ to the Torah/Bible-guided legislative work.
However, instead of the global spiritual unity, the spiritual vacuum in the Western World has been created, which was filled quickly with most aggressive Islamic spirituality. The millennium-old Christian communities in the Middle East are diseasing under the Islamic assault. The Muslims in Europe are in a real war with the native population. The September 11, 2001 terrorist act and many other prevented terrorist attempts are the evidence the Islamists are serious in destroying the Judeo-Christian spirituality of America as well.
According to the just-released survey of American Muslims, a majority of them agreed with the statement “Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to Sharia.” Even more troubling is the fact that nearly a quarter of the Muslims polled believed that, “It is legitimate to use violence to punish those who give offense to Islam by, for example, portraying the prophet Mohammed.”
While we have been dismantling our Judeo-Christian spirituality, the Islamists were strengthening their Islamic spirituality. It is not too late to recognize the grave threats we are facing and begin the process of restoration.
Let us begin with the reform of school and college education that would bring back the study of our Judeo-Christian roots. The emphasis should be made on what unites all Judeo-Christian spiritually competing groups, what disunites them with spiritual adversaries, and how to spiritually defend ourselves. The state-church separation should be taught, as it should be, not as separation of Judeo-Christian morality from public life but rather as prohibition for any religious stream within the Judeo-Christian realm to become a dominating spiritual power.
Among many Bible-guided spiritual/moral principles, the following has to be emphasized.
Since all humans are created in the image and likeness of God as equals, the government has no right to designate any group of citizens as a deprived-equality one and then through legislative acts provide the equality. Unfortunately, that is what the government is doing by splitting legislatively men from women, whites from blacks, born here from immigrants, poor from rich, homosexuals from heterosexuals, traditional families from non-traditional families, secular from religious, etc.
The people themselves have to look for Bible-guided ways to feel equal with the others. Below are just two examples.
 A non-traditional family may live in its home as it wish; however, it should not try to force the Judeo-Christian majority to treat its life style spiritually equal to that of the traditional families.
An immigrant family may be accepted in the USA only if it is willing to live under the collective laws of Judeo-Christian morality – if the immigrant family cannot accept it, as it might be with a Sharia-guided Muslim family, this family should be helped at the Sharia-guided places.
The people who are appointed or elected to the government positons of power have to pledge the allegiance not just to the Constitution with its multiple interpretations but also to its Judeo-Christian spirit as well.
After we restore the Judeo-Christian eternal principles of our life, we will be spiritually ready to defend them from all external (and internal if necessary) enemies.
