12 detained in 'coexistence' demo near Bethlehem

Twelve protesters were detained by police at a demonstration of about 100 Palestinian and Israeli left-wing activists near Bethlehem on Sunday.
The demonstration was stopped by the police, who said the protest was illegal, and the remaining participants were forcibly removed from the checkpoint area.
The demonstrators arrived at the Bethlehem checkpoint in buses from the Palestinian side, disembarking and starting a march on foot.
The protesters were marching to celebrate Passover and Easter, and call for interfaith coexistence.
