Police manhunt for perpetrator of LGBTQ ‘hate crime’ stabbing underway

Police continue to hunt for the perpetrator of the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy near Tel Aviv’s LGBTQ youth hostel on Friday. He was seriously wounded and was rushed to Ichilov Hospital by MDA paramedics. He remains in serious but stable condition after undergoing surgery.A member of the teenager’s family is suspected of carrying out the attack. The victim is originally from the Arab city of Tamra, and had recently moved away from home after coming under pressure from family members to be religious.The LGBTQ youth organization Iggy responded to the attack by describing it as “a hate crime.” Arab lawmakers also condemned the stabbing, with Hadash party leader Ayman Odeh writing on Twitter that “We can’t accept any type of violence in our society, especially not hate crimes.”
