2 arrested for attempting to extort star soccer player

Two men, a father and his son, were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of attempting to extort Brazilian soccer player Douglas Da Silva, who until recently played for Israeli premier league side Hapoel Tel Aviv, and who is about to begin playing for Austria's Red Bull Salzburg team.
The suspects, the younger of which is a former soccer player himself, allegedly threatened to spread damaging claims in the media about Da Silva if their demands for hundreds of thousands of shekels were not met, police said.
The investigation was led by the anti-economic crimes unit and the Lahav 433 unit.
The suspects were arrested in their homes on Wednesday morning.
