2 Shuafat residents arrested for attacking light rail, firing gun at Jewish homes

Two unidentified Palestinian suspects from east Jerusalem’s Shuafat neighborhood were arrested for several violent offenses, including throwing firebombs at the light rail, and shooting a gun at Jewish homes, police said on Sunday.
According to police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, the duo was apprehended last Wednesday following a lengthy investigation into the alleged crimes, which spanned several weeks.
“Both of the suspects were in involved in carrying out a number of attacks which took place over the last two months,” said Rosenfeld.
“Additionally, in January of 2015, both of them fired shots from a Gustav automatic weapon at several Jewish homes causing damage, although no one was injured.”
Both suspects have been arraigned at Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court. “The Israeli Police in Jerusalem are continuing operations to prevent terrorist attacks and other scenarios from taking place,” Rosenfeld said.
