2 wounded after Jerusalem street fight ends in shooting

An early morning dispute between two Israeli men in downtown Jerusalem on Wednesday escalated into a shooting that seriously wounded one man, and lightly wounded a 15-year-old female bystander.
While details of what led to the violence remain unclear, Police Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said that at approximately 5 a.m. reports were received of multiple shots fired.
“Police rushed to the area and saw a 15-year-old girl, who had nothing to do with it, was lightly wounded by a gunshot and rushed to Hadassah University Medical Center in Ein Kerem, and another man who was shot was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in moderate condition,” Rosenfeld said. “The suspect was immediately arrested and police are investigating the background of the incident.”
Rosenfeld noted that although terrorism has been ruled out, the case is considered a high priority due to the city’s already tenuous security situation, compounded by security preparations for Purim.
“This was a local criminal incident, not terrorism, and the suspect and victims are being questioned to determine the circumstances.
