33 people drowned in waters off Israeli beaches this summer

Thirty-three people drowned in the waters off Israel's shore during the past summer's swimming season, the Interior Ministry announced on Sunday. Most of those who drowned entered waters that were closed for swimming or were swimming at night, after the beaches closed.
The Interior Ministry statement added that the 33 deaths represented a drop in the number of drownings. Thirty-eight people drowned in the summer of 2010 and 43 died off of Israeli beaches in the previous year.
