50 die in Sudanese army mutiny in oil-rich south

Battles with tanks and machine guns broke out in Sudan's southern territories as the norther and southern armies began a difficult separation process this past week, Reuters reported Sunday.
At least 50 people have been killed in the last four days in the bloody battles as several soldiers have refused to leave their weapons and positions in the south and redeploy with the northern units.
South Sudan is expected to become the newest African nation July 9th, following the referendum which called for the independence of the southern portion of Sudan.
