72 months for man who stabbed wife and son

The Central District Court in Petah Tikva sentenced a Netanya man to 72 months imprisonment after he attacked his wife and son with a knife last year.
Aforek Motza was convicted of injury with serious intent and injury in aggravated circumstances.
In August 2010, Motza stabbed his wife in the neck, stomach, hip and shoulder as she slept in the family's apartment. When Motza's 24 year old son tried to stop him, Motza stabbed him in the face and then in the back and hand.
Motza then turned the knife on himself, stabbing himself in the stomach.
Motza's wife escaped only by a 'miracle', said the judge.
The court also learned that Motza had been convicted previously of assaulting another woman.
Attorney Tirtza Shehem Keinan, defending, said Motza suffered from depression and had speech difficulties following a suicide attempt in which he drank acid.
