8 truck drivers arrested, suspected of theft of IDF food

Police on Wednesday morning arrested eight truck drivers who deliver food supplies to IDF bases, on suspicion of stealing from the supplies over a long period of time.

In addition, the IDF were questioning eight soldiers suspected of involvement in the theft. The soldiers were supposed to accompany the drivers to ensure that the packages reached their destinations. Some were suspected of being deliberately involved, while the IDF suspected that others were deceived by the drivers.

An IDF official said that the an investigation was opened after food shortages was discovered at several army bases, Israel Radio reported. He said that it appears as though the value of the stolen food amounts to tens of thousands of shekels.
