A-G testifies after found employing illegal foreign worker

Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein on Wednesday testified to interrogators from the Population, Immigration and Borders Authority after the immigration authority recommended to indict his wife for illegally employing a foreign worker. Interrogators met with Weinstein at his office in the Justice Ministry and heard his testimony for an hour on Wednesday.
According to Channel 1, Weinstein's wife checked that the worker had permits, but did not notice that he only had permits as a caretaker and not for housework. The Weinsteins have been employing a foreign worker from India even before Weinstein became state attorney.
Deputy Prosecutor Shuki Lamberger now must decide whether to accept the immigration authority's recommendation and indict Weinstein's wife.
During the course of their investigation, immigration authority interrogators asked Lamberger to allow them to receive Weinstein's testimony. If his wife is indicted and convicted for illegally employing a foreign worker, she would face a heavy fine.
