Activists demand release of Schalit outside cabinet meeting

Dozens of activists demanding the release of captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit demonstrated Sunday outside of the weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem as part of ongoing protests to mark the five-year anniversary of Schalit's capture.
In another protest for Gilad taking place in Herzliya, various celebrities and former POWs continued to sit inside a makeshift dark closet-like prison cell - for one hour each - to reflect the conditions of captivity the soldier is believed to be living in.
A 24-hour live broadcast of the protest began at 8 p.m. Saturday, showing participants such as former Mossad chief Danny Yatom, former Shin Bet chief Ami Ayalon, writer Meir Shalev, actress Gila Almagor, and actor Oz Zehavi.
