Aharonovitch backs request to pardon policeman Mizrahi

Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch said Thursday in an interview with Army Radio that he will support a request that President Shimon Peres pardon the policeman Shahar Mizrahi.
Mizrahi was convicted for shooting dead a car thief.
"Policemen are put in a dangerous position and must defend themselves from members of the public," Aharonovitch said in the interview.
Aharonovitch attacked the court's decision to increase the policeman's sentence from 15 months to 30 months.
