Al Jazeera chief calls for immediate release of imprisoned journalists

Al Jazeera's managing director said on Thursday (January 1) that the Egyptian courts had taken a step in the right direction by ordering a retrial of the three jailed journalists from the network.
Mustafa Souag called for their immediate release.
A retrial was ordered by Egypt's highest court on Thursday, citing procedural flaws in the original trial.
Australian Peter Greste, Canadian-Egyptian Mohamed Fahmy and Egyptian national Baher Mohamed were sentenced to seven to 10 years in June on charges including spreading lies to help a "terrorist organisation" - a reference to the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood.
