Arab dressed as Israeli soldier for construction job arrested in J'lem

An Arab resident of east Jerusalem dressed in Israeli army fatigues for his work at a nearby construction site was arrested Wednesday opposite the President's Residence in Jerusalem, police said. The young man, who was apprehended by a routine border police patrol in the area, found the uniform at the nearby construction site where he worked, and used them as work clothes, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. A police search of the nearby construction site uncovered another set of IDF uniforms as well as a toy gun and an apparently forged Israeli identity card, he said. The worker, who is in his 20s, was apprehended at midday in the city's upscale Talbieh neighborhood that is home to the President's Residence after border police noticed him "behaving suspiciously" in the area. However following his interrogation, police quickly determined that he was not involved in either criminal or terrorist activity.
