An Israeli-Arab man in his 50s was found stabbed to death on the street in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan early Thursday morning, in what police are deeming a criminal act.
The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Magen David Adom first responders, police said.
While few details of the homicide have been revealed, according to police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, the victim was “known to police,” and the motive was not nationalistic.
“We are investigating this murder as a criminal matter, not a nationalistically motivated incident,” he said.
