Arab man stabbed after allegedly breaking into Jerusalem apartment

An Arab man in his early 20s was allegedly stabbed by an unknown resident, or residents, of Jerusalem’s ultra-Orthodox Shmuel HaNavi neighborhood late Monday night upon being accused of breaking into an area apartment, police said Tuesday.
According to Police Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, shortly after the unidentified man was discovered by the apartment’s inhabitants, he fled by foot toward the intersection of Shmuel HaNavi and Yehezkel Streets, at which time he was accosted by residents of the neighborhood.
The alleged burglar sustained at least one stab wound during the attack and was subsequently rushed to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem by Magen David Adom, where he was placed in moderate condition.
Although police have opened an investigation into the attack and alleged break in – described by Rosenfeld as a criminal incident, that was not nationalistically motivated – he said details of the assault remain unclear.
“Police searched the neighborhood all day Tuesday to determine who stabbed him, however no arrests have been made as of yet,” he said. “Our investigation is ongoing.”
