Housing and Construction Minister Ariel Atias (Shas) stated that his party opposes Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's new economic policies, according to Army Radio on Thursday.
"We think it is wrong to raise taxes now," said Atias, adding that his party represents the middle class and below: those who are reported to suffer most from the VAT increase.
Netanyahu is set to meet with representatives of the Bank of Israel and the Finance Ministry to discuss Israel's economic policy. He has declared that the intended VAT percentage increase will benefit the middle class and the poor, not hurt them.
