August tourism in Israel near pre-Gaza war levels

Tourist entries to Israel in August 2015 have rebounded to numbers similar to those in August 2013 before Operation Protective Edge in Gaza, the Tourism Ministry announced Wednesday.
According to the ministry, Israel saw 233,000 visitors enter the country in August 2015, which was 42 percent more than the same month last year.
"The recovery trend after Operation Protective Edge continues apace," said Tourism Minister Yarin Levin. "With the increase in the marketing budget, I have given the go-ahead to aggressive and focused marketing campaigns for the winter season on order to secure this welcome upward trend."
However, the 1.88 million overall number of tourist entries from January to August 2015 were eight percent less than the same period in 2014 and two percent less than 2013.
