Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Tuesday attended the funeral of Maj.-Gen. (res.) Avraham Tamir, who died Monday, and said "today we must part from a young warrior commander and a very important man."
"He was a turbulent character, a curious man who raised curiosity too, creative and a creator, unique and at home among his contemporaries," Barak continued as part of the eulogy.
"Avraham's life story is woven throughout the story of the creation of this country, and as someone who was injured in battle, Avraham's body bore the price of this struggle," Barak continued.
