Barak authorizes transfer of hundreds of tons of cement to UN in Gaza

Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Wednesday authorized the transfer of hundreds of tons of cement to the Gaza Strip. The Defense Ministry stressed that the supplies would be transferred directly to UNWRA, not Hamas, and that they would be used for UN buildings. Cement has not been transferred to the Strip since Operation Cast Lead some seven months ago, for fear that it would be seized by Hamas operatives.
