Barak to interview Galant, Eizenkot as possible IDF chiefs

Defense Minister Ehud Barak plans to interview OC Southern Command Maj.-Gen. Yoav Galant and OC Northern Command Maj.-Gen. Gadi Eizenkot, as part of the selection process for a new IDF Chief of Staff.
On Thursday, Barak tried to downplay tensions with current  IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, saying: “Israel is blessed with a terrific chief of staff, and I can only promise that we will continue to work together until his last day in office... In the end, the chief of staff and I are responsible together for the state’s security.”
On Thursday, Barak met with OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Avi Mizrahi. Next week, he is scheduled to meet with Deputy Chief of General Staff Maj.-Gen.
