Beit Yehonatan loses appeal

An appeal by Jewish residents of Beit Yehonatan in southeast Jerusalem’s Silwan neighborhood asking to cancel a court-ordered evacuation of the building was rejected by the Jerusalem Court for Local Affairs on Wednesday evening. The court did, however, postpone the evacuation by a month, giving the residents time to launch another appeal in the Jerusalem District Court.
In their appeal that was rejected on Wednesday, residents of the building said a municipal development plan for the area could result in a decision to allow the residents to live in the building, despite a previous court ruling to vacate and seal it.
