Border Police officer dies after accidental shooting

A Border policeman died Thursday after inspecting his firearm at a training base and accidentally shooting himself in the chest.
Paramedics rushed the injured officer from the base, at Mihmash in the West Bank, to the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem in serious condition.
The officer later died of his injuries. He has been named as F.-Sgt Haim Mahaltzi. He leaves behind his parents and a brother.
Following the accident, Border Police chief Cmdr. Yoram Halevi ordered all training activities to cease until the circumstances of the shooting have been resolved.
