DOHA, Qatar — Qatar's state news agency on Saturday said the leaders of Brazil and Qatar discussed Iran's disputed nuclear program ahead of the Brazilian president's visit to Teheran.
Luis Inacio Lula da Silva travels to Iran later Saturday in a bid to help broker a compromise with Iran's leadership over its nuclear activities.
The US and its allies are pushing for new sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program. The West says Teheran aims to develop nuclear weapons. Iran says it's program is for peaceful purposes.
Silva has indicated a reluctance to support new sanctions against Tehran.
