A children's bus driver who was convicted of telling Ethiopian girls traveling in his vehicle that “they stink” was fined NIS 3,000 by a judge at Jerusalem Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, and ordered to pay NIS 8,000 to each of the plaintiffs. According to the court, the unidentified driver told the girls: “You stink, and every time I have to come to the absorption centers there is a smell because it is customary for you to rummage for things in the garbage.” The judge subsequently denied the driver's request to annul the conviction, court records state.
