China solar giant signs NIS 10m. contract for Israeli tech

Tel Aviv-based Enerpoint Israel signed a NIS 10 million contract this week with Chinese solar panel giant Suntech for the international company to manufacture and distribute its SuperPoly solar systems, the Israeli firm announced on Thursday. The contract was signed for the first quarter of 2012, with the possibility of extending it for the following three quarters.
Introduced several months ago to Suntech in China, Enerpoint Israel’s SuperPoly technology allows for photovoltaic panels to be produced combining characteristics from two different, but highly used, cell processing mechanisms – mono-crystalline, which allows for higher efficiency, and poly-crystalline, which perform well in the desert as they have a lower chance of light-induced degradation, according to the company. SuperPoly panels will begin to be installed on rooftops in Israel’s South next week.
