Collision between 2 planes narrowly averted at Ben-Gurion

Two airplanes nearly collided at Ben-Gurion International Airport on Monday morning.

An airplane from Ukrainian airline AeroSvit was directed to land in a runway occupied by an Israir airplane, which was readying for take-off.

An air traffic controller realized the error at the last minute and instructed the Ukrainian plane to change course to a different runway.

The Transportation Ministry and the Israel Airport Authority opened an investigation into the incident.
