Court lifts ban on name of alleged victim in motive for Bar Noar shooting

The younger brother of Bar Noar murder suspect Hagai Felician was the male relative who's sexual assault was the motive for the August 2009 double murder, the Tel Aviv District Court cleared for publication on Tuesday evening.
Younger brother Benny Felician, then a teenager, was indicted earlier this year on charges of trying to attain an illegal firearm from the state witness in the Bar Noar case, himself a relative of one of the three men arrested in the case, Tarlan Hankishayev.
Benny was arrested along with his brother Hagai and Hankishayev in June, a few months after an inmate came forward and told police that he knew who carried out the Bar Noar murders. Eventually the murder cases against Benny and Tarlan were dropped and Hagai remained the sole person indicted for the murders.
The motive for the killings, according to police, was Hagai's desire to avenge the alleged sexual assault of Benny at the hands of Shaul Gonen, then the manager of the Bar Noar Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, and Transgendered teens center. From the beginning Benny denied that he was ever sexually assaulted, and repeatedly asked the court to clear his name for publication.
