Demanding better conditions for Schalit, protesters block Gaza passages

Dozens of activists from the Movement to Free Gilad Schalit and the Kibbutz Movement were blocking the crossings to the Gaza Strip on Tuesday morning, demanding the release of the abducted soldier, who has been held by Hamas for the past three years. The activists, clad in t-shirts that read "I've enlisted for Gilad Schalit," were blocking the transfer of goods through the depot. The protesters are demanding that Hamas ease Schalit's conditions and allow the Red Cross to visit him. They threatened to block access to Hamas prisoners held in Israeli jails if their demands aren't met. The Israel Road Transport Board requested that trucking companies refrain from delivering any goods to the Strip on Tuesday in order to show solidarity with the campaign.
