Erdan: Stabbing attack at Jerusalem gay pride is 'hate crime that cannot be forgiven'

In a statement released Thursday night following the stabbing at the Jerusalem gay pride parade in which six people were injured, Interior Minister Gilad Erdan described the attack as a “hate crime that cannot be forgiven.”

“The Israel Police will do everything to bring the perpetrator to justice, and hope that he will pay the price,” he said. “I want to say personally that I heartily sympathize with the pain of members of the gay community.”

Erdan added great strides still need to be made in the capital to create a tolerant environment.

“We as a society need to sit together and determine how we can promote tolerance,” he said. “How do we encourage restraint, and how do we improve further? I will work and do everything I can to ensure that this happens.”
