European shares flat as Mid-East tensions weigh

LONDON - European shares were flat around midday [GMT] on Tuesday after fresh oil price gains renewed concerns about inflation and stalled the retracement of last week's hefty sell-off.
At 12.48 p.m. GMT, the FTSEurofirst 300 index of leading European shares was flat at 1,169.21 points, well off its intraday high of 1,179.04 points, hit by a 0.8 percent rise in the cost of Brent crude.
