Filipino migrant sentenced to life for rape, murder

A 31-year-old Filipino migrant was sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday after he was convicted by Lod District Court of raping and murdering an elderly woman in his care.
As he was being pursued by police, he jumped off the roof of an apartment building and suffered injuries that rendered him a quadriplegic.
The suspect confessed to the crime, only to recant in court. Eventually he agreed to a plea bargain, admitting to the crimes.
